Dominant Bangladesh seal Test series whitewash in Rawalpindi

Bangladesh has made history at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by winning their first-ever Test series against Pakistan, and Pakistan has been whitewashed. The task of putting Pakistan on the back foot was achieved by two young pacers, Hasan Mahmud and Naheed Rana, the previous day. With Pakistan being bowled out for 172 runs, Bangladesh was set a target of 185 runs, which they chased down losing 4 wickets. Bangladesh has inflicted a series loss and a whitewash on Pakistan.

Pakistan has been completely outplayed in the Test series on Bangladeshi soil. After winning the first Test by 10 wickets, Bangladesh secured a thrilling victory by 6 wickets in the second Test. Dominating in back-to-back Tests in Rawalpindi, this is Bangladesh's 8th Test win abroad and their second consecutive win against Pakistan. After the West Indies, this is Bangladesh’s second Test series win outside the country. Winning a match despite losing 6 wickets for just 26 runs in the first innings is a first in Test cricket history. This achievement is certainly highly memorable for Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team.

Close to a memorable series victory, Bangladesh went into the lunch break on the fifth day. To create history, Bangladesh needed just 63 runs in the remaining two sessions. Despite losing two openers in the first hour of the morning, Bangladesh steadily advanced towards the target. Captain Shanto, along with experienced Mominul Haque, showed resilience at the crease as they moved the team closer to victory.

However, upon returning from the lunch break, Najmul Hossain Shanto lost his wicket quickly. The Bangladesh captain scored 38 runs. As Bangladesh awaited history against Pakistan, Mominul Haque also had to leave the field. Mominul was dismissed for 34 runs, with Abrar Ahmed claiming his first wicket.

Afterwards, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan guided the team towards victory. Both batted comfortably, and Bangladesh progressed steadily towards their target.
