Najmul Hossain Shanto is reportedly considering stepping down from captaincy across all three formats, pushing the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to explore alternatives. Towhid Hridoy’s name has emerged as a potential candidate for the T20 captaincy. However, Hridoy himself seems solely focused on the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
Speaking to the media before heading to the airport, Hridoy deflected questions about potential leadership responsibilities, saying, "This is a decision for the BCB. I don’t have any control over it. I believe that the leadership should be given to whoever is best suited for the team’s benefit. And whoever is chosen, my best wishes are with them."
When asked if he felt ready for the role, Hridoy diplomatically responded, "I’d prefer not to discuss this right now. My focus is entirely on the upcoming series."
Hridoy was also asked if he aspired to play in a higher batting position. He responded, "I’m always ready to play wherever the team needs me. The team's needs come first, and I'll follow whatever decision is made."
For now, Hridoy is keeping his attention firmly on the Afghanistan series, leaving leadership discussions to the BCB.
