Aaron Jones and Roston Chase led Saint Lucia Kings to their first-ever CPL title. They defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors by 6 wickets at Providence Stadium, giving Faf du Plessis' team the taste of victory in front of Guyana's home crowd.
On Saint Lucia’s maiden title-winning day, Roston Chase was awarded the Player of the Final for his cameo of 39* runs off 22 balls, along with his contribution of 1 wicket with the ball. Saint Lucia’s Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad, who claimed 22 wickets throughout the tournament, received the Player of the Series award.
In the final 5 overs, Saint Lucia Kings needed 66 runs to win. Aaron Jones and Roston Chase took charge and guided the team to victory within the next 3 overs. They sealed a commanding win by 6 wickets in 18.1 overs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors, after losing the toss and being sent to bat first, could only manage 138 runs for 8 wickets. The highest score for them came from Dwaine Pretorius, who made 25 runs. Shai Hope, who batted at number three, added 22 runs to the total. Saint Lucia's Noor Ahmad once again shone with the ball in the final.
While chasing the modest target, Saint Lucia Kings found themselves in trouble early on, losing 4 wickets for just 51 runs. Captain Faf du Plessis was dismissed for 21 runs off 21 balls, while fellow opener Johnson Charles departed after scoring 7. Akeem Auguste, coming in at number three, managed only 13 runs, and Tim Seifert, after facing 10 balls, could score just 3 runs.
With Saint Lucia at 51 for 4, they needed 87 runs in the remaining 10 overs. Aaron Jones and Roston Chase ensured no further setbacks. Chase remained unbeaten on 39 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes off 22 balls, while Aaron Jones played a crucial innings of 48 runs from 31 balls to lead the team to victory.
