Sunrisers Hyderabad Retains 3 Overseas and 2 Indian Players for IPL 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has announced the names of players they have retained for the upcoming season. The franchise has retained three overseas players and two Indian players.
Australia’s Pat Cummins and Travis Head, along with South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen, have been retained as overseas players. Indian players Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been retained by the team.
Sunrisers Hyderabad spent ₹18 crore to retain Australian captain Pat Cummins, while ₹14 crore was spent on his compatriot Travis Head. Heinrich Klaasen’s retention came at a high cost of ₹23 crore.
Among the Indian players, Nitish Kumar Reddy was retained for ₹6 crore, whereas Abhishek Sharma’s retention cost ₹14 crore.
With ₹75 crore already spent on retentions, Sunrisers Hyderabad still has funds remaining in their purse. They also hold the Right to Match (RTM) option for one player in the IPL auction.
The 2016 IPL champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, were runners-up in the last IPL season. However, they chose not to retain players like Washington Sundar, Thangarasu Natarajan, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
