Sri Lanka complete 2-0 whitewash over Bangladesh

Chattogram Test saw a dismal performance with both bat and ball resulting in a significant defeat for Bangladesh. Sri Lanka's opposition remained calm and composed throughout the series, securing a whitewash victory. The previous day, Bangladesh lost 7 wickets in the afternoon, leaving only 3 wickets in hand. As expected, Bangladesh suffered a massive setback on the morning of the fifth day, conceding a whopping 192 runs.

After winning the first Test in Sylhet with a massive lead of 328 runs, Sri Lanka extended their lead in the series to 1-0, leaving the Tigers ashamed in Chattogram. Despite setting a formidable target of 511 runs, Bangladesh faltered at 318 runs, losing their way. In the first innings, the team collapsed for 178 runs. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, scored 531 and 157 runs respectively in their two innings.

To win or draw this match with an incredible target of 511 runs, Bangladesh faced a daunting task on the fifth day. To win, they needed to achieve a world record average of 243 runs. Drawing the match required playing out an entire day with only 3 wickets in hand.

However, only Mominul Haque managed to reach two figures until lunchtime. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who showed strong batting resilience in the last evening, partnered with Taijul Islam. They averaged 25 runs in their batting today.

Miraz hit 50 runs off 62 balls, marking his 6th half-century in Test cricket. Kamindu Mendis broke through this over, leading to Taijul's dismissal, adding to Sri Lanka's jubilation. Before Taijul Islam's departure, Miraz scored 38 runs in 62 balls. Then, Hasan Mahmud came and faced 25 balls in the competition.

Miraz showcased that patience could have yielded something good today with his innings of 81 runs against the tide.
