Security Concerns: Nahid Rana Withdraws from Pakistan Tour
Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana has withdrawn from the upcoming Pakistan tour due to security concerns, just days ahead of the scheduled departure on May 25. Though initially named in the squad, the right-arm pacer has personally opted out of the three-match T20I series in Lahore.
Tensions regarding the tour had been looming since the recent conflict between India and Pakistan, casting doubt on whether the bilateral series would proceed as planned. Despite the uncertainty, both cricket boards confirmed the series would go ahead. However, safety concerns have led to further complications.
In addition to Nahid Rana, Bangladesh's newly appointed fielding coach James Pamment and the team’s trainer have also refused to travel to Pakistan.
Revised Schedule for the Pakistan Series
As per the updated itinerary released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the three T20Is will be held as follows:
1st T20I – May 28, Iqbal Stadium, Lahore
2nd T20I – May 30, Iqbal Stadium, Lahore
3rd T20I – June 1, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
All matches will begin at 8:00 PM local time (9:00 PM Bangladesh time).
The Bangladesh squad, led by Litton Das, is expected to arrive in Lahore on May 25, with training sessions scheduled for May 26 and 27 ahead of the series opener.
