Rajasthan Royals Retain 6 Players in IPL 2025
Rajasthan Royals, the champions of the inaugural IPL (Indian Premier League) season in 2008, have retained six players for the 2025 IPL season with hopes of reclaiming the title.
The franchise retained five Indian and one overseas player. The retained players are Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Sandeep Sharma, and overseas player Shimron Hetmyer.
Rajasthan spent ₹18 crore each to retain Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, while Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel each cost ₹14 crore. Retaining Shimron Hetmyer cost ₹11 crore, and Sandeep Sharma was retained for ₹4 crore.
After spending ₹79 crore on retentions, Rajasthan Royals have ₹41 crore left in their purse. They will not have any Right to Match (RTM) cards in the IPL auction.
Rajasthan Royals did not consider retaining players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Jos Buttler, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who were part of the squad last year.
In the IPL 2025 auction, Rajasthan Royals are expected to focus on bowlers, as their retentions include four batters and only one bowler.
