Sunshine has finally broken through the clouds at Galle International Cricket Stadium after a rain-interrupted day. The covers were removed well in advance, and following a pitch inspection, the umpires have confirmed that play will resume at 4:45 PM Bangladesh Standard Time.
If there’s no further rain or bad light, play is expected to continue until 6:00 PM local time (6:30 PM BST). According to the revised schedule, 31.4 overs remain in the day’s play, taking the day’s total to 72 overs.
Bangladesh First Innings:
420/4 in 130.2 overs
Before rain halted play, 40.2 overs had been bowled today.
Mushfiqur Rahim is unbeaten on 159, while Liton Das remains not out on 61. The duo has stitched together a strong unbroken 114-run partnership off 205 balls for the fifth wicket.
Bangladesh will now aim to build further on their dominant position if the weather holds through the remainder of the day.
