Afghanistan cancels Pakistan trip
Afghanistan cancels Pakistan trip
Pakistan and Afghanistan were scheduled to play two friendly matches in July. However, suddenly the trip was canceled, announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. Just last week, both cricket boards had arranged two friendly matches for the development of cricket in both countries.
One of the matches was supposed to take place in Kabul, Afghanistan, while the other was planned in Lahore, Pakistan. Afghanistan cricket has been collaborating with Pakistan from the beginning. Pakistan has provided them with the opportunity to use their venues or conduct camps.
Moreover, a senior team, the 'A' team, was also sent to Afghanistan. However, after the bomb explosion in Kabul on Wednesday, which resulted in the death of 80 people, the Afghanistan Cricket Board took the decision to cancel the tour. The ACB announced this sudden decision on their official Twitter account. However, the reason behind this sudden decision was not clarified by both boards.
In addition to this, there have been discussions among a few Pakistani cricketers about participating in a T20 franchise cricket league featuring six teams in Kabul in July. Pakistan Cricket Board has also submitted letters of no-objection to this matter. Whether the Pakistan Cricket Board will decide to cancel the trip is yet to be seen.
