ICC Identifies Window for 2025 Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has earmarked the window from February 19 to March 9, 2025, for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The tournament will span 20 days, marking its return for the first time since 2017. In the last edition, Pakistan emerged victorious by defeating India in the final at The Oval.

The ICC has announced the window for next year’s Champions Trophy. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the tournament will take place from February 19 to March 9 next year.

Although the schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy has not yet been finalized, the tournament will be concluded within the 20-day timeframe. The 2017 edition was completed in a 19-day window, starting on Thursday (June 1) and ending on Sunday (June 18).

It remains unclear whether all matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan. With the BJP government returning to power in India, it is expected that the current policy towards Pakistan will continue. However, no official statement has been issued yet.

The hybrid model used for last year’s Asia Cup might be implemented, meaning that several matches of the tournament could be held in the UAE. However, sources indicate that whether the Indian team will tour Pakistan will be decided soon. The final decision is expected at the ICC’s annual conference in Colombo in July. By then, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have a better understanding of the government's policy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has identified Lahore as the venue for India’s matches to minimize travel for the Indian team and to facilitate fans and supporters who can easily reach Lahore via the Wagah border.
