Pakistan Begin ODI Series with Commanding Win over West Indies
Pakistan made a strong start to the ODI series, defeating West Indies by five wickets in Trinidad. Debutant Hasan Nawaz was the star of the match, scoring an unbeaten 63 to earn the Player of the Match award.
After clinching the T20I series, Pakistan now lead the ODIs 1-0. Put in to field first after losing the toss, Pakistan restricted West Indies to 280 runs. The target was chased down comfortably with 11 balls to spare.
Mohammad Rizwan laid the foundation with a steady half-century before Hasan Nawaz, playing his first international match, sealed the win with a match-winning knock of 63 off 54 balls. Hussain Talat provided valuable support in the latter stages, scoring 41 runs.
Earlier, skipper Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 53, while Babar Azam narrowly missed out on a fifty, falling for 47. Opener Saim Ayub struggled, making just 5 off 12 balls, while fellow opener Abdullah Shafique contributed 29.
With this victory, Pakistan carry their winning momentum from the T20Is into the ODIs, putting them in a strong position for the remainder of the series.
