District cricketers put forward 16-point demand to BCB
With political power shifts impacting various sectors, Bangladesh cricket is no exception. Recent changes in the cricket board have prompted new measures and reforms, and cricket stakeholders are making their voices heard.
On Sunday, cricketers from 64 districts gathered at the Home of Cricket in Mirpur to present their demands to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). They submitted a 16-point list of demands.
Nazmul Abedin Fahim, a BCB director, addressed the cricketers and assured them that their demands would be considered. He emphasized that the focus should be on the overall benefit of cricket rather than individual gains. Fahim stated:
“The board's priority is not what benefits me or you individually but what benefits cricket as a whole. We will do everything within our means to support cricket. Whether it’s about starting district cricket, having a pitch in every district, player welfare, or increasing competition, we will ensure that decisions are made fairly and that everyone gets equal opportunities for talent identification.”
He further added, “You can rest assured that the cricket board will strive to support you to the best of its ability. While not all demands may be met immediately, our intention is to benefit both the players and the sport.”
The BCB’s commitment signals a significant shift towards addressing and improving various aspects of domestic cricket, aiming to foster a more supportive environment for players across the country.
