David Hemp's remark on Tanzid Hasan Tamim
He came & conquered - these are the words often associated with Tanzid Hasan Tamim in international T20 cricket. He has set a record path by scoring an unbeaten 67 runs off just 47 balls against Zimbabwe, leading Bangladesh to victory in the innings.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim now holds the record for the highest number of boundaries (10) for Bangladesh in international T20 cricket on debut. After Junaid Siddique, he becomes the second Bangladeshi to score fifty-plus innings in T20 international debut.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim's stellar performance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier League (DPL) has been consistent. His form has carried over to the series against Zimbabwe. Now, it's certain that he's eyeing the T20 World Cup.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim, a member of the Under-19 World Cup-winning team, has already played in previous World Cup for seniors. He was the opener for Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup in India. His experience makes any issues surrounding him negligible.
Speaking of his improvement, David Hemp, the batting coach for Bangladesh in Chattogram, stated, "He is progressing. He has played in the 50-over World Cup as well. He was part of the HP (High-Performance) program, so I have seen him before. He is progressing every week, every month. He is making better decisions than before."
Despite praising Tamim, David Hemp also acknowledges that there is still room for improvement for the young Tamim.
According to him, "There is still a lot of room for his improvement. But it's great to see young cricketers applying their strengths and doing well. Currently, he is on the right track."
Tanzid Hasan Tamim has played 15 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 1 T20 International for Bangladesh. He has scored 263 and 67 runs respectively. The 23-year-old left-handed batter's future looks promising to the Tiger management.
