Chennai Super Kings Retains Dhoni and 4 Other Players for IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings Retains Dhoni and 4 Other Players for IPL 2025
Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (winners in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023) have retained five players for the upcoming IPL season. This includes four Indian players and one overseas player.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been retained for just ₹4 crore. The franchise spent ₹12 crore to retain Shivam Dube, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja were both retained for ₹18 crore each.
Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana was the only overseas player retained, with the franchise spending ₹13 crore to keep him in the squad.
With ₹65 crore spent on retentions, Chennai Super Kings has ₹55 crore left in their purse. They also have one Right to Match (RTM) option available for the IPL auction.
Chennai Super Kings chose not to retain several players from last season, including Mustafizur Rahman, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Chahar, and Shardul Thakur.
