Bangladesh Stumble to 109 in Final T20I
Bangladesh suffered a major batting collapse in their bid to avoid a series whitewash. After winning the toss and opting to bat first in the third and final T20I against Australia, the hosts managed only 109 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs on the Chattogram wicket as the Australian bowlers produced a disciplined performance.
Needing a strong total to keep their hopes alive, Bangladesh were pushed onto the back foot from the very beginning as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Openers Tanzid Hasan (5) and Parvez Hossain Emon (1) departed early, while Saif Hassan (1), Nurul Hasan Sohan (6) and Shamim Hossain (0) also failed to make an impact in the middle order.
Towhid Hridoy was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring a fighting 61 runs. His 51-ball innings featured three fours and three sixes. It was largely due to Hridoy’s responsible knock that Bangladesh managed to cross the 100-run mark. Towards the end of the innings, Rishad Hossain contributed 16 runs from 14 balls, while Shariful Islam remained unbeaten on 7 to help the team reach 109.
Among the Australian bowlers, pacer Spencer Johnson was the most destructive. He conceded just six runs in his four overs and claimed two wickets. Spinner Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis also picked up two wickets each to keep Bangladesh under pressure throughout the innings, while Nikhil Chaudhary chipped in with one wicket.
Having already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, Australia now need just 110 runs to complete a 3-0 series sweep.
