Bangladesh Slip to 10th in ICC T20I Rankings After Back-to-Back Series Defeats
Bangladesh's downward spiral in international cricket continues as the team has dropped to 10th place in the latest ICC T20I rankings, following consecutive series defeats to the UAE and Pakistan.
According to the updated rankings published by the ICC on May 30, Bangladesh slipped one spot from 9th to 10th after losing four T20Is in a row, including the 2-1 series loss to the UAE in Sharjah and two back-to-back defeats against Pakistan in Lahore.
This losing streak cost Litton Das’s team 5 rating points, bringing their total down from 225 to 220. Taking advantage of this slide, Afghanistan, with 223 rating points, leapfrogged Bangladesh to move into 9th place.
Ireland now closely trails Bangladesh, sitting at 11th place with 202 points.
Here are the current top teams in the ICC T20I rankings:
1st: India – 271 points
2nd: Australia – 262 points
3rd: England – 254 points
4th: New Zealand – 249 points
5th: West Indies – 246 points
8th: Pakistan – 229 points (unchanged in position, but gained rating points)
With one more match remaining in the Pakistan series, Bangladesh faces the threat of a whitewash. The third and final T20I will be played tomorrow (Sunday) at the same venue in Lahore.
