The first day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Rawalpindi was washed out due to rain, and the toss was not conducted. However, with clear skies today, August 31, the match is set to begin.

Taskin Ahmed, who has been absent from red-ball cricket for a long time, returns to Bangladesh's playing XI. To make room for Taskin, Shariful Islam has been dropped. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who won the toss in Rawalpindi, has chosen to bowl first.

Taskin was not included in the playing XI for the first Test in Rawalpindi. He makes a return for the series against Pakistan, having last played a Test against Afghanistan in June of the previous year. Shariful Islam has lost his spot in the XI due to this change.

Although a 12-man squad was announced two days ago, Pakistan revealed their final XI at the toss. Abrar Ahmed, the only recognized spinner, is set to return to action. Unlike the first Test, where Pakistan played with four fast bowlers, they have opted for one spinner this time.

Pakistan’s XI features four fast bowlers, while Bangladesh will rely on three fast bowlers, similar to their approach in the previous Test.

The match, which was delayed by rain, will now start today, August 31, and will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium until September 3. Bangladesh secured a historic 10-wicket victory in the first Test and now has a chance to win the series.
