Bangladesh Bounce Back After Nightmare Start in Galle
Bangladesh Bounce Back After Nightmare Start in Galle
After a dreadful start, Bangladesh staged a strong comeback on Day 1 of the Galle Test against Sri Lanka. From a shaky 90 for 3 at lunch, the visitors recovered superbly in the second session, adding 92 runs without losing a wicket.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and senior batter Mushfiqur Rahim led the charge with confident strokeplay and composure at the crease. Both brought up their half-centuries and now look well set to convert them into centuries.
The pitch at Galle, known for aiding spinners, has so far seen some steady batting from the Bangladeshi middle order after an early collapse that included the dismissal of Anamul Haque for a duck.
With momentum now on Bangladesh’s side, the visitors will aim to post a strong first-innings total and build pressure on Sri Lanka in Angelo Mathews’ farewell Test.
Stay tuned for further updates as the day progresses.
