Bangladesh Announce Strong Squad for UAE and Pakistan T20 Series; Litton Das Named Captain
Later this month, Bangladesh will play two international T20 matches against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before traveling to Pakistan on May 21 for a five-match T20I series against the hosts. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a strong 16-member squad for both tours.
Following Najmul Hossain Shanto’s decision to step down from T20 captaincy, Liton Das has been appointed as the new captain. He will lead the team through to the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. All-rounder Sheikh Mehedi Hasan has been named as the vice-captain for the UAE and Pakistan series.
The selectors have opted for the same squad for both series. Liton passed a fitness test to earn his place as captain.
Key players Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, and Nasum Ahmed have missed out on selection, with Taskin ruled out due to injury.
As part of their preparations, Bangladesh will play warm-up matches in Sharjah before heading to Pakistan for the five T20Is.
