Amir joins Nottinghamshire as a local player

Experienced Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir is set to join Nottinghamshire for the remainder of the 2026 T20 Blast season. The 34-year-old has not represented Pakistan since the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

As Amir will be registered as a local player, Nottinghamshire will not need to use one of their overseas player slots to sign him. This means he will be able to play alongside South African all-rounder George Linde and fellow Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali in the same squad.

Nottinghamshire currently sit second in the North Group after six matches in this season’s T20 Blast. If all formalities are completed in time, Amir could make his debut in Friday’s away fixture against Kent.

Amir expressed his excitement about joining Nottinghamshire and said he is determined to perform well for the club and entertain its supporters.

“I’m absolutely delighted to join Notts. I’ve heard so many great things about the club and I’m really looking forward to playing here. I have a lot of great memories of Trent Bridge. T20 cricket is all about entertaining the fans, so I’ll do my best for the team and hopefully give the supporters plenty to cheer about.”
