Nahid Rana in the Race for ICC Mens Player of the Month
Nahid Rana has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in the New Zealand series by earning a place on the shortlist for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has included the young Bangladesh pacer among the nominees, marking his first-ever appearance in the monthly award race.
Bangladesh won the ODI series against New Zealand at home last month, with Nahid playing a key role in the 2–1 victory. He led the pace attack throughout the three-match series, taking 8 wickets while maintaining impressive control with an economy rate of just 4.46. His consistent performances earned him the Player of the Series award.
The right-arm fast bowler delivered his most memorable performance in the second ODI in Mirpur, where he tore through the New Zealand batting lineup with a five-wicket haul for just 32 runs. His brilliant spell helped Bangladesh secure a commanding victory. He also contributed with two wickets in the final ODI in Chattogram, helping his team seal the series.
In the men’s category, Nahid faces competition from United Arab Emirates left-arm pacer Aayush Kumar. He impressed with consistent performances throughout April, taking three wickets against Nepal and a remarkable six-wicket haul against Oman.
Another nominee in the list is Oman’s Jatinder Singh, who has also been recognized for his strong performances during the same period.
