Jyoti Speaks Out on Basic Needs of the People

Following the national parliamentary elections, a new government has taken office in the country. Citizens are moving forward with renewed hope, looking for opportunities to improve their lives. At this crucial moment, Nigar Sultana Jyoti, captain of the Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket Team, has voiced her opinion on the fundamental needs of the people.

Through social media, she highlighted the expectations and necessities of ordinary citizens. Her comments have already sparked discussion about what people need for their livelihood, and the kind of improvements required in education and healthcare services.

Nigar Sultana Jyoti’s initiative is creating awareness in society and encouraging others to pay attention to government and social initiatives. Through such expressions, the importance of improving the lives of every citizen becomes more visible.

On her Facebook page, Jyoti wrote:

*“Why all the fights over positions and power? Aren’t we supposed to be here to serve the people and work for the country’s welfare? The people of our country are simple—they just want their basic needs met, and they won’t raise questions. Things like education, healthcare, roads, and affordable prices should be ensured—simple as that! A hospital with 1,500 beds has over 5,000 patients, only a handful of nurses, and just a few doctors—how is proper treatment possible? Headaches? None.

The roads we travel (except for some long-distance routes) are so bad that healthy people can easily get sick; elderly, unwell, and pregnant women suffer the most—God knows their condition—and no one talks about this.

The people of our country are really simple; we are easily content. You don’t need to do a lot for us! Just fix our everyday necessities. Whatever else you feel like doing is up to you, no one will question it.”
