Bangladesh have put Pakistan in a difficult position after building a huge lead in the Sylhet Test. The hosts were bowled out for 390 in their second innings, setting Pakistan a daunting target of 437 runs to win the match — a chase that would require a historic effort.

Starting the third day with a lead of 156 runs, Bangladesh lost captain Najmul Hossain Shanto early after he scored 15. Mushfiqur Rahim then steadied the innings alongside Litton Das. The pair added an unbeaten 88-run partnership by the end of the first session, taking Bangladesh’s lead to 249 runs.

Litton brought up his half-century soon after lunch. Although he eventually departed for 69, his innings played a key role in pushing Bangladesh towards a commanding total. Mushfiq, meanwhile, produced a composed and mature knock, reaching his century off 178 balls. His 137-run innings came from 233 deliveries and included nine fours and a six.

Towhidul Islam Taijul also provided valuable support to Mushfiq late in the innings, scoring 22 runs from 51 balls.

By the end of the third day, Pakistan had begun their chase and finished on 0 without loss after two overs.
