Bangladesh Fight Back with Spin After Batting Collapse
Bangladesh bounced back with an impressive bowling performance after suffering a batting collapse on the second day of the Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. After bowling out the hosts for 272, the West Indies ended the day at 134 for 4. Play was called off early due to bad light, with the visitors still trailing by 138 runs.
Bangladesh suffered an early setback at the start of the day. Resuming their innings at 213 for 3, Shadman Islam departed after scoring 105. The hosts then came under pressure from Caribbean spinner Jomel Warrican, who claimed five wickets as Bangladesh were bowled out for just 272. Towhid Hridoy scored 42, while Litton Das remained unbeaten on 34.
In reply, the West Indies made a solid start with the bat, but Bangladesh regained control through the spin attack of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam. Miraz dismissed half-centurion John Campbell, who scored 54, while Taijul struck twice in a single over, removing Kavem Hodge and Aamir Jangoo to deliver a major blow to the visitors.
At stumps, Tagenarine Chanderpaul was unbeaten on 43, with Justin Greaves on 15. Only 71.4 overs were possible due to bad light and rain. Taijul claimed two wickets, while Miraz and Hasan Mahmud picked up one each. On Friday, the third day of the Test, the Tigers will aim to wrap up the remaining wickets quickly and secure a commanding position in the first innings.
