Chattogram Kings fail to end BPL home phase on a high as Dhaka Capitals secure an 8-wicket victory

The Chattogram Kings couldn’t conclude their home phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a win. Mohammad Mithun’s side, despite posting a competitive 148 runs, suffered an 8-wicket loss to the Dhaka Capitals with 11 balls to spare. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 90 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 166.66. Tamim smashed 7 sixes but hit only 3 fours during his dominant innings.

The emphatic victory allowed Dhaka Capitals to leap to fourth place on the points table, while Chattogram slipped to third. Chattogram’s batters struggled against Dhaka’s disciplined bowling attack, managing only 148 runs. Opener Naim Islam top-scored with 44 runs, while fellow opener Zubaid Akbari contributed 23 runs. In-form batter Graham Clark was dismissed for just 19, failing to make an impact. The middle-order failed to stabilize, as Shamim Hossain and Haider Ali scored 15 and 16 runs, respectively. Towards the end, Nazmul Islam Apu and Mosaddek Hossain picked up two wickets each, restricting Chattogram’s total.

Chasing a modest target of 149, Dhaka Capitals’ openers set the tone with a 75-run partnership in just 9 overs. While Tanzid Tamim played aggressively, Liton Das took a cautious approach before falling for 25. Tamim reached his half-century off 28 balls and continued to dominate the Chattogram bowlers.

Munim Shahriar, batting at number three, scored 12 off 18 balls, but Tamim’s unbeaten 90 ensured Dhaka’s victory. Sabbir Rahman contributed 14 runs off 9 balls as the Capitals sealed the win with 11 balls remaining, marking a crucial step up the BPL standings.
