Rangpur Riders, the table-toppers of the BPL, have won all of their six matches so far. This has put the entire team, from players to coaches, in high spirits. On Saturday, as there were no BPL matches, Rangpur Riders' head coach Mickey Arthur shared his satisfaction with the media regarding the team and the players.
Mickey Arthur expressed, "I believe the players are fulfilling the roles they’ve been given in the way I want them to. They are performing wonderfully on the field, and I’m extremely happy with them. This is a team of very talented players."
Regarding the challenging dew conditions, Mickey Arthur mentioned that the players are managing well. He said, "We have a squad that is capable of adjusting to the conditions. We had three night matches in Dhaka, where the dew wasn't as heavy, but it was still present. I believe our players have the skill set to adapt to these conditions."
Speedster Nahid Rana has been consistently bowling in the BPL this season. In response to a question about his workload and potential need for rest to avoid injury, Mickey Arthur stated, "We will see how he is progressing. There’s a balance between giving players rest and maintaining their workload. Each match requires only 24 balls from a bowler, and we will monitor how it goes. If we get a chance to rest him, we will. It’s difficult to plan for rest at this stage, but we have a good formula in place that we like to follow. We have two pacers who bowl in the middle overs, and our spinners are also doing well. It's crucial for us to maintain this balance, and we will decide if he needs rest based on how he’s performing and if he's feeling fatigued."
While there are ongoing discussions about the quality of BPL, Mickey Arthur has expressed satisfaction with the tournament. He said, "It’s very good. The conditions are very different, especially for the foreign players. Playing here is a big experience for them. There are some really talented foreign players in the league. I think the standard of play and the competition is really high. Each team has its own identity, which has made every match significant."
Shifting focus from the BPL, there is increasing speculation about Mickey Arthur’s potential role as the coach of the Bangladesh national team, given his past coaching experience with Pakistan and other national teams. When asked about this, Mickey Arthur said, "Right now, I’m focused on helping Rangpur win the BPL. I’ll think about such things after that."
When asked again if he would consider it, he gave a positive response, saying, "Yes! We’ll see what happens (smiles)."
