The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) began with a spectacular concert, but the 7th February final at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla will be a quieter affair, without any major attractions like fireworks or grand celebrations. As the 2024-25 BPL season draws to a close, there is only one match left before the final—the Second Qualifier—after which the defending champions Fortune Barishal will face either Khulna Tigers or Chattogram Challengers in the title decider.

For the final match on 7th February, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to keep the celebration simple and environmentally conscious, adhering to a more sustainable approach. Unlike previous editions, where fireworks illuminated the stadium, this time there will be no such display at the grand finale.

The BCB has been actively promoting environmental sustainability throughout the tournament, emphasizing climate change and conservation efforts. As part of this commitment, the board has opted to exclude fireworks from the final, in line with governmental guidelines and a broader initiative to protect the environment. The focus will instead be on engaging the youth and encouraging their participation.

While the BPL opening ceremony featured fireworks and extravagant performances, the final will feature a laser show, which will be a brief yet visually striking display for the fans in the stadium after the match. Initially, the BCB had planned to use 500 drones to create an artistic display of July’s graffiti during the final, but the plan was scrapped due to concerns over excessive costs.

Ultimately, the BCB’s decision reflects its increasing focus on balancing entertainment with environmental responsibility, providing a more sustainable model for future sporting events. Fans will still enjoy an exciting match, but the final will certainly be different from the usual flashy celebrations.

As for the match itself, it's sure to be a high-stakes affair, with the BPL title on the line and plenty of action, though it may lack the grandeur that has become synonymous with cricket finals in the past.
