Concerns Raised Over Alis Al Islam’s Bowling Action in BPL
Questions have been raised about Alis Al Islam’s bowling action once again, following his exclusion from the team in the match against Durbar Rajshahi. He was also not part of the playing XI against Dhaka Capitals. It has now been revealed that the reason behind his absence is related to his bowling action.
National selector Hannan Sarkar confirmed the issue regarding Alis' action, stating, “We have been informed that the umpires have raised concerns about Alis' bowling action. He is still eligible to play, but perhaps for precautionary reasons, the team chose not to include him in the previous match.”
This is not the first time Alis’ bowling action has come under scrutiny. In 2019, his action was questioned during the BPL, after which he worked to correct it and made a return to domestic cricket. There has been no official statement from Chittagong Kings regarding the matter yet.
Alis has been in excellent form in the ongoing BPL, taking 11 wickets in 7 matches with an economy rate of 6.70. His exclusion from the team due to his bowling action is a significant setback for both Alis and Chittagong Kings.
Last year, Alis earned a call-up to the national team after an impressive performance with Comilla Victorians in the BPL, but injury prevented him from playing. This year, he had another opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially earn a spot in the national squad. However, with his bowling action now under question, that path appears to be temporarily blocked.
