Nepalese left-arm spinner Sandeep Lamichhane will represent Rajshahi Warriors in this season’s Bangladesh Premier League. He arrived in Bangladesh yesterday and spoke to the media today, sharing how he received the offer to play for Rajshahi.
Lamichhane joined the team at the invitation of Rajshahi Warriors’ head coach Hannan Sarkar. Speaking about the process of joining the team, Lamichhane said,
“I was watching the final of the Nepal Premier League when he (Hannan Sarkar) messaged me to ask if I wanted to join Rajshahi Warriors. Within a few minutes, we finalized everything. I am grateful to him for making the whole process so easy.”
Discussing the team’s strength and the performance of the players, Lamichhane said,
“The potential in our team is outstanding. Especially when you play in a franchise league, the performance of the local players becomes very important. Rajshahi Warriors have a lot of talent. I have played with many of them before, so I know them well. Our whole team is very excited for the first match against Sylhet. The team environment is also very positive right now.”
On the balance of the team and the experience of the players, Lamichhane added,
“From the top order to the lower order, there is balance everywhere. There are good players in all departments—spinners and fast bowlers alike. Nazmul (Shanto) is leading the team, and we have experienced players like Mushfiqur Rahim. The foreign players also bring a lot of experience. Overall, it is a complete team, and everyone is ready to give their best for the title.”
Finally, speaking about the aim to win the trophy and connecting with fans, Lamichhane said,
“The goal is simple—to win matches. That is the easiest objective. At the same time, we want to entertain the fans and earn points for the team. We are grateful for everyone’s support, and as a team, we will try our best to win the trophy.”
