Jason Gillespie Resigns; Aaqib Javed Becomes Pakistan's Red-Ball Head Coach

In April this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Jason Gillespie as the head coach of their Test team. However, just a few months later, the former Australian pacer has parted ways with the PCB.

On December 15, Gillespie stepped down from his position as Pakistan's red-ball head coach. The PCB announced his resignation through a press release.

In the same announcement, the PCB named Aaqib Javed as the interim head coach for red-ball cricket. Javed, a member of Pakistan’s World Cup-winning team, recently took on responsibilities in white-ball cricket as well.

Aqib Javed’s first assignment in red-ball cricket will be the ongoing tour of South Africa, where Pakistan will play a two-match Test series. The first Test is scheduled to take place from December 26 to 30 at SuperSport Park in Centurion, while the second Test will be held from January 3 to 7 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

Currently, the Pakistan team is in South Africa playing a three-match T20I series, which will be followed by a three-match ODI series.
