Bangladesh achieved a historic 10-wicket victory against Pakistan at Rawalpindi, marking a significant milestone in their cricketing history. Prior to the series, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto had predicted that Shakib Al Hasan would play a crucial role, and Shakib delivered impressively on the fifth day of the match. He claimed three vital wickets, significantly contributing to the victory. Following this historic win, the Bangladesh captain praised Shakib Al Hasan in the post-match press conference.
Shakib Al Hasan, along with his teammates, played a pivotal role in securing Bangladesh's first-ever Test victory against Pakistan. On the fifth day, Shakib’s efforts were instrumental in putting Pakistan on the back foot. He dismissed key batsman Saud Shakeel and opener Abdullah Shafique. Subsequently, Mehedi Hasan Miraz took charge with his spin bowling, claiming four wickets and further disorienting the hosts.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto spoke highly of Shakib after the match:
“When he steps onto the field for the country, Shakib is incredibly dedicated. He does whatever it takes for the team to win. He puts aside his personal life and focuses entirely on how he can contribute to the team, how he can help junior players, and how he can make a difference. His dedication is exceptional. Having such contributions from him is fantastic for the team. We expect nothing less from him, and we look forward to even better performances in future matches.”
