IPL 2025 Auction: Noor Ahmad had a big payday
On the first day of the 2025 IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a total of 72 players were sold. Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad was bought by Chennai Super Kings for 10 crore rupees. After Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Noor Ahmad became the second Afghan cricketer to be picked up in the mega auction.
Noor Ahmad is set to become the first Afghan cricketer to represent Chennai Super Kings. Chennai had a strong contest with Mumbai and Gujarat to secure Noor. Mumbai Indians were the first to raise their paddle to bid for Noor.
Noor’s base price was 2 crore rupees, but Chennai spent big to bring him in. In the end, Noor Ahmad’s price rose to 10 crore rupees. With this purchase, CSK has further strengthened their spin attack. Along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Noor will now be a part of Chennai’s spin lineup. For the past three seasons, Noor had been playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Noor has also played for Super Kings in Major League Cricket and was the highest wicket-taker in the 2024 CPL playing for St. Lucia Kings. In 12 matches, he took a total of 22 wickets at an economy rate of 6.19.
Apart from Noor Ahmad, Chennai Super Kings also acquired Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, Ravichandran Ashwin, Khalil Ahmed, Rahul Tripathi, and Vijay Shankar on the first day of the auction.
