Tomorrow morning, Sri Lanka, looking to claim more wickets next morning

Bangladesh couldn't seize control on the first day of the Sylhet Test. Despite the early breakthroughs by Khaled, Sri Lanka managed to halt their innings at 280 runs. Bangladesh, in response, suffered early setbacks, losing three top-order batters. The day ended on a gloomy note for the hosts after scoring only 32 runs for the loss of three wickets.

The start of the match was promising for Bangladesh, with the best session being the morning one. However, the subsequent sessions were disappointing. Towards the end of the day, Nahid Rana's pace, bounce, and movement troubled the Sri Lankan batters. He managed to dismiss two centurion's in a single over. Sri Lanka finished their first innings at 280 runs. Bangladesh began their innings by losing opener Zakir Hasan early, followed by quick departures of skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque, leaving them at 32 for 3.

Bangladesh has lost three wickets. Are Sri Lankans ahead now? In response to such questions, Kamindu Mendis said, "Yes, I think we are ahead. If we can take 1-2 more wickets early tomorrow, we will be in a better position." Nahid Rana bowled 14 overs in the first innings, conceding 87 runs and taking 3 wickets. Earlier, in the morning session, another pacer, Khaled Ahmed, took 3 wickets.

Mendis evaluated the wicket of the Sylhet Test, saying, "It's a good wicket for the pacers. They (Bangladesh) took 5 wickets early. Later, despite taking 3 wickets within 30 runs in their batting, I think it's a good wicket for the pacers. If we can take a few more wickets early tomorrow, we can further advance."
