Wanindu Hasaranga Ruled Out of ODI Series Due to Hamstring Injury
Sri Lanka has suffered a major setback ahead of their ODI series against New Zealand, with star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga being ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Hasaranga picked up the injury while bowling during the second T20I against New Zealand.
Following the injury, Hasaranga returned to Colombo and has already begun his rehabilitation process at the High Performance Centre. This is not the first time the all-rounder has been troubled by hamstring issues; he was also forced to miss the entire series against India in August due to a similar injury.
To replace Hasaranga in the squad, Dushan Hemanta, a 30-year-old all-rounder, has been called up. Hemanta has played five international ODIs so far, scoring 39 runs in those matches.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has also been affected by injury, with pacer Lockie Ferguson being ruled out of the series due to injury. Ferguson has been replaced by Adam Milne in the Kiwi squad.
The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand will begin on 13 November in Dambulla, with the remaining matches scheduled for 17th and 19th November in Pallekele.
