BCB wants to promote BPL around the world along with the government
A recent report by The Telegraph revealed over 30 allegations of corruption in the last two seasons of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), with no action taken to address these claims. As the upcoming BPL season approaches, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Nazmul Abedin Fahim emphasized that they would remain vigilant against corruption this time around.
On Monday, Nazmul Abedin Fahim confirmed to journalists that BCB's anti-corruption team would be proactive in ensuring a fair tournament. "We are aware of the issue. To make the game genuinely competitive and fair, discipline is crucial. Our anti-corruption team will be active this season. We will implement necessary anti-corruption programs and raise awareness among players and management. Our goal is to prevent such incidents. If any occur, we are prepared to take action this time. We’ll try to take appropriate measures because I don’t think anything good can come from a chaotic situation. I believe the BPL authority will take this very seriously," Fahim stated.
BCB also aims to promote the BPL globally, with a strategy to attract attention and possibly involve international celebrities. "If our chief advisor, Professor Yunus, attends and gives a speech, or if we see a Hollywood actor or a renowned footballer connected with this event, it will definitely get media attention. We’ll make every effort to promote the BPL worldwide. I believe we can achieve much more this time," Fahim added.
BCB is also planning to bring global superstars to enhance the tournament's appeal. "It could be cricketers, other athletes, or even non-sports figures. Multiple ministries are involved, and this season is being organized on a grander scale. We hope they will invest here as well," Fahim concluded.
