There was some uncertainty regarding whether Mustafizur Rahman would be included in the XI, but today he not only played but also made the biggest contribution with the ball for Chennai Super Kings. He alone took 4 wickets on the opening day of the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore set a target of 174 runs, which Chennai easily achieved.

Mustafizur's team won by 6 wickets, with 8 balls to spare. Mustafizur's bowling turned the tide for Chennai in the innings. His remarkable performance in the first 4 overs helped restrict the opposition to 38 runs with the loss of one wicket. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad departed scoring 15 runs.

Rachin Ravindra played his natural game, eyeing big runs from the outset. He continued to build the innings along with Ajinkya Rahane. However, a delivery from Karn Sharma saw Rajat Patidar caught out after scoring 15 runs off 37 balls, leaving the team at 71 for 2.

Before the team reached a century partnership, Rahane was caught by Cameron Green off the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman for 27 runs. After a brief interruption due to an over's break, Chennai lost the wicket of Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell returned scoring 22 runs.

Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja finished the game for Chennai. Together, they led Chennai to victory. Dube scored 34 runs off 28 balls, while Jadeja remained unbeaten with 25 runs off 17 balls.

Prior to fielding first after losing the toss, Chennai Super Kings faced a dilemma. However, Mustafizur's bowling prowess quickly turned the tables in favor of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mustafizur had a good start, but it was in the 5th over of the innings that he made a significant impact. He took the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar on the third and sixth balls respectively.

Du Plessis scored 35 runs off 23 balls before returning to the pavilion. Patidar failed to add any runs to his personal tally. Bangalore's troubles increased when Glenn Maxwell lost his wicket in the next over. Deepak Chahar's delivery led to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's gloves taking the catch.

Bangalore lost Virat Kohli's wicket in the same over, courtesy of Mustafizur Rahman. Kohli caught a slower delivery on the boundary line, scoring 21 runs off 20 balls.

In the same over, Mustafizur took another wicket. A cutter delivery of shorter length bowled out Cameron Green. He returned with figures of 4 overs, 29 runs, and 4 wickets.

Bangalore managed to reach 173 runs, losing 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
