It's a challenging time for Hardik Pandya. He's struggling both on and off the field. The responsibility has fallen on Hardik's shoulders from Rohit Sharma to lead Mumbai Indians (MI). However, he seems to be struggling to find his footing, whether in responsibility, batting, or bowling. Despite Rohit's century blow, Mumbai failed to secure a win. Meanwhile, cricket analysts are harshly criticizing Hardik.
Wankhede Stadium; Mumbai's home ground. Support was expected for the blue team. However, Mumbai seemed to be struggling to chase Chennai's 207 runs. Rohit hit a century, he remained unbeaten. Yet, they fell short by 20 runs.
In the first innings, Hardik took 2 wickets but conceded 43 runs in 3 overs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed 3 sixes in the last over of the innings, contributing 26 runs.
At the end of the match, in Star Sports analysis, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar commented on Hardik's situation, "One six is fine. But the next one is a length ball, and when you know the batter is waiting for length, you throw a full toss on the leg side, and then there were sixes. Just ordinary bowling, ordinary captaincy. I think Chennai should have been stopped at 185 or 190."
Gavaskar's sentiments were echoed by former English star Kevin Pietersen in the same discussion, mentioning the criticism of Hardik's supporters and the gallery, saying, "He (Hardik) was behaving as if he was very happy. But he is not happy. I've been through these. I know he will suffer from this."
