Ebadot to miss T20 World Cup
Bangladeshi paceman Ebadot Hossain will miss the upcoming T20 World Cup. He won't be fit before the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in the United States and the Caribbean in June next year.
This information was shared by Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) chief physician, Debasish Chowdhury, on cricket-related website Cricbuzz. Ebadot expressed his desire to return for the T20 World Cup.
Ebadot Hossain was hopeful about his own comeback process. He sustained an injury during the home series against Afghanistan in July 2023. Later, he underwent surgery for anterior cruciate ligament injury.
On January 13, Ebadot told the media, "I am hopeful to return before the upcoming T20 World Cup. Despite the challenges, everything is going well. The medical team is providing me with great support, and I am progressing well. I am regaining my strength and working hard on the field. I believe in a hopeful future."
After the injury, Ebadot has been away from competitive cricket. He hasn't played in the Asia Cup, let alone representing Bangladesh in international series like BPL and DPL.
Meanwhile, Debasish Chowdhury said to Cricbuzz, "There is no chance for Ebadot's return before the T20 World Cup. We are not even considering it."
Debasish mentioned that such a comeback process would take at least 10 months, even up to 12 months. As Ebadot underwent surgery in December, his return is expected no earlier than October of this year. Even if he returns earlier, Debasish ensures that his participation in the T20 World Cup is uncertain.
Though it's not good news for Ebadot's return, Soumya Sarkar and Taijul Islam will rise to the occasion in the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe.
