Mustafizur Rahman becomes Overseas Icon Player of Dambulla Thunders
In the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the Bangladeshi-owned franchise team is Dambulla Thunders. This franchise is owned by Bangladesh's two entrepreneurs, Tamim Rahman and Golam Rakib's Imperial Sports Group. This time, the team has roped in Bangladesh's star pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
In the franchise-based T20 league in Sri Lanka, Dambulla Thunders has acquired Mustafizur Rahman as their overseas icon player.
Dambulla Thunders wrote on their social media:

The 5th season of the LPL will be held from July 1st to 21st. The auction dates will be announced shortly by the LPL.
Over 500 overseas players have shown interest in playing in the 2024 LPL. Among the 24 cricketers shortlisted, 5 franchises will select players.
Many star cricketers have shown interest in playing in the league, including Tamim Iqbal, Tim Southee, Rassie van der Dussen, Jimmy Neesham, Mushfiqur Rahim, Rilee Rossouw, Shai Hope, Taskin Ahmed, Lungi Ngidi, Nasim Shah, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Colin Munro, Ish Sodhi, Mark Chapman, Jason Behrendorff, Avishka Fernando, Oshane Thomas, Kieron Pollard, and Fabian Allen.
Besides, Usman Khawaja, Tabraiz Shamsi, Evin Lewis, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Reece Topley, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Gulbadin Naib, and Ibrahim Zadran have also shown interest.
