In Sylhet, the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test series commenced early in the morning. Luck favored Bangladesh as captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Nahid Rana made his Test debut, becoming the 103rd cricketer to represent Bangladesh in Test cricket.
With the conclusion of the T20 and One Day series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh now shifts its focus to Test cricket. The two-match Test series will begin today, Friday. Both teams will step onto the field at 10:00 AM at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The Bangladesh team management has included two specialist spinners alongside three pacers. Along with Shariful-Islam-Khaled, a new face, Nahid Rana, has been added. Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be partnering with Taijul Islam in the spin department.
Through this series against Sri Lanka, Najmul Hossain Shanto has been assigned a new role as the regular captain. Last year, under Shanto's leadership, Bangladesh clinched victory in the first Test against New Zealand on home soil, in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan.
Liton Das returns to the whites for Bangladesh in the latest Test series against Sri Lanka, after missing out on the recent Test series against New Zealand.
