Spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has expressed confidence that the Bangladesh team is on the right track and could achieve more wins abroad. Ahead of the Test series against Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have been instrumental in boosting the team's morale.
Mushtaq Ahmed stated, "All the players are excited about the first Test match. Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim are senior players in the team. They are playing a positive role with the rest of the squad. I also credit the management for their good handling of the players. Now, the focus is on cricket."
Due to political instability in Dhaka, the team was unable to arrange practice sessions with head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. Consequently, on August 13, the Bangladesh players arrived in Pakistan at the invitation of the PCB. Shakib Al Hasan arrived in Lahore from the United States on Wednesday and joined the practice session with the team shortly afterward.
Earlier, Shakib played for the Bangla Tigers in the Global T20 Canada, where he had a dramatic week. On August 5, just hours after the fall of the Awami League government in Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India, Shakib played a match. During this period, Shakib lost his parliamentary seat and faced criticism from fans during the game.
Mushtaq Ahmed further remarked, "We want to instill confidence in the players that they can beat anyone. Bangladesh is a good team. They have challenged strong teams in the World Cup. They are getting good fast bowlers. They are progressing. If they continue to learn from good guidance and keep faith in themselves, hopefully, they will start winning away games."
