Mohammed Shami Set to Return for Test Series Against Bangladesh
Mohammed Shami has been sidelined since the ODI World Cup due to injuries and missed the T20 World Cup as well. However, there is hope that the star Indian fast bowler will be ready for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Shami has not played an international match since undergoing ankle surgery. India is optimistic that he will regain full fitness by the start of the home season in September.
Since the ODI World Cup last November, Shami has been working hard to regain his fitness. The good news is that he is expected to be ready to play in India's home season, starting with the Test series against Bangladesh in September.
The selectors have been updated on Shami’s progress, and a decision will soon be made on whether he should participate in at least one match of the Duleep Trophy, which begins in Anantapur on September 5, to prove his fitness.
Shami is currently in the final stages of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He started bowling again for the first time last month following his surgery. The first Test against Bangladesh, starting in Chennai on September 19, could mark his return to international cricket.
During the last year's ICC ODI World Cup, Shami was playing with an ankle injury. He managed the pain with injections and took 24 wickets across seven matches. Despite his efforts, India lost to Australia in the final.
