Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced that former captain Elton Chigumbura will take on the role of head coach for the Zimbabwe Under-19 team. He will be joined by Rangarirai Norbert Manyande, who will serve as both assistant coach and batting coach.

In a statement, ZC said that former Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura has been appointed as the head coach of the country's Under-19 team. Chigumbura made his international debut for Zimbabwe in 2004 and has represented his country in 14 Tests, 213 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 57 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Chigumbura has captained Zimbabwe in a total of 80 matches. He has impressive records in ODIs, with 4340 runs and 101 wickets to his name. Apart from Grant Flower, Chigumbura is the only Zimbabwean player to achieve this feat. He took over as Zimbabwe's captain in 2010 and led the team in the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup. However, he had to step down due to poor performance. He later led the team in the shorter formats from 2014 to 2016.

Chigumbura played his last Test match against Bangladesh in Chittagong in 2014. His final ODI appearance was also against Bangladesh in 2018. He has participated in various domestic leagues, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the Dhaka Premier League. Additionally, he has played county cricket for Northamptonshire in England.

Rangarirai Norbert Manyande, who will be taking on the role of assistant coach for the Zimbabwe Under-19 team, has previously played first-class cricket in Zimbabwe before representing Namibia. The youth team's bowling coach will be former South African spinner Paul Adams.
