Having defeated Canada and Pakistan, the United States now sets its sights on India and Ireland. In their first World Cup match, the USA made a record run chase to defeat Canada. In the second match, they stunned the world by defeating Pakistan in a thrilling super over. This underdog team can no longer be underestimated and has the potential to defeat both India and Ireland.
The USA's next match is against another Asian giant and one of the World Cup favorites, India. After their victory against Pakistan, they are determined to defeat Rohit Sharma’s team as well. Group A includes India, Pakistan, the USA, Ireland, and Canada. Currently, the USA, as the host country, tops the group.
In an interview with Cricbuzz, Ali Khan shared how the USA team has risen, how they defeated Bangladesh in a series, and how they managed to dismiss the dangerous Fakhar Zaman for just 11 runs, dismantling Pakistan’s batting lineup. He said to Cricbuzz,
"This victory against Pakistan is incredible. We have been waiting for this day for a long time, and when the opportunity came, we seized it with both hands. However, I believe our job is not finished until we reach the Super Eight. The team is extremely confident. We are optimistic about maintaining our winning streak against India and Ireland."
In the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, Saurabh Netravalkar had encountered Babar Azam. In that tournament, Babar was dismissed by an inswinger from Sandeep Sharma. Fourteen years later, in the T20 World Cup, Netravalkar made it tough for Babar once again. In the powerplay, Babar could only manage 3 runs off 11 balls from Netravalkar!
Netravalkar told Cricbuzz, "I am happy to have been part of the USA team for the past 5-6 years. This win against Pakistan is special. But there is still a long way to go, both on and off the field, to strengthen our team."
