Young Pace Bowler Akash Deep Inspired by Legends in Indian Dressing Room
Pace bowler Akash Deep made his international debut earlier this year during a five-match Test series against England. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the Bangladesh series, where he finds inspiration by sharing the dressing room with stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Speaking at a press conference before the Kanpur Test, Akash expressed his feelings about sharing space with legendary players. "Everyone who has made it this far is a legend. Currently, I see players like Virat bhai and Rohit bhai working hard. I can witness the dedication and effort they put in. I'm learning from them about their commitment and how they practice. Their mindset is different, and seeing this motivates me to work harder."
After a strong start against England in Tests, Akash has maintained his good form in domestic cricket. When asked how he plans to move forward, he stated, "I've been playing a lot of cricket over the past two years. I've participated in the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy. I believe a player should have a clear understanding of their position. If someone gets a chance in the team, they shouldn’t get confused. I want to focus on my strengths and think about what new I can add to my bowling. I want to work on the small things and keep it simple. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself and instead focus on the upcoming matches."
Expressing his feelings about joining India’s pace bowling unit, Akash said, "Playing for India is a dream for many youngsters. It’s an honor. I also try to understand my responsibilities so that when the time comes, I can contribute to the team. I want to fulfill that responsibility with pride, just like many before me have done for the country."
Akash considers himself lucky to have Rohit Sharma as captain. "I feel very fortunate to play under him. I had a lot of doubts about whether I would play, whether a pacer or spinner would be chosen. But once I got on the field, he made everything so simple that I couldn’t tell if I was playing domestically or internationally. I feel very lucky to have such a captain."
