Suryakumar Yadav changed after rehabilitation process
Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the field after recovering from injury and completing the rehabilitation process. After being away from the field for almost 4 months, his comeback is promising for the Mumbai Indians. Although he got out for zero runs in the first match against Delhi Capitals, seeing himself back in action is bringing joy to Suryakumar's eyes and face.
Rehabilitation processes for injured Indian cricketers are conducted at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Suryakumar recently spoke about his experiences during this process and the various changes he underwent. He mentioned, "Describing the last three months is quite challenging."
In an interview on the official website of the IPL, the cricketer further added, "This has helped me grow as a person and as a cricketer. If I talk about the first two to three weeks, I was getting irritated doing the same things repeatedly during rehabilitation. But by the fourth and fifth weeks, I could understand the importance of moving forward. It was essential for me to think about how I wanted to come back."
Suryakumar suffered an injury during the South Africa tour in December. Then, he had to undergo surgery for a sports hernia in January this year. Since then, he has been in constant touch with the medical staff at the NCA in Bengaluru.
Starting from dietary habits to following a proper schedule and giving the body rest, all these aspects were included in his rehabilitation process. Additionally, Suryakumar, who was not accustomed to reading books before, took up reading during this period.
He has had discussions with his wife and many others associated with the academy. Everyone has noticed some changes in Suryakumar. He said, "I had never read books in my life. I started that. I used to get up in the morning, spend quality time during rehab, pay attention to everything, connect with myself, and try to understand my body and mind during rehab. This has truly helped me come back quickly."
Today (Thursday), the Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Despite not scoring runs in the first match, Suryakumar will strive for a hopeful performance in the second match. At least, he will try to showcase glimpses of his transformed self on the field.
