Sri Lanka Alleges ICC Mismanagement Amidst Pitch and Outfield Concerns

Even before the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, a barrage of complaints has been directed towards the ICC. After issues with the pitch and outfield, the Sri Lankan team has now raised concerns about the ICC's overall management.

Citing excessive distance between their hotel and the stadium, the Sri Lankan team has canceled their practice session. Maheesh Theekshana, a Sri Lankan spinner, has alleged that the team is being deprived of adequate facilities, similar to many other teams. He claims that they are being treated unfairly.

After Sri Lanka's humiliating 77-run loss to South Africa at the Nassau International Cricket Stadium in New York, Theekshana has raised several accusations against the ICC. According to Theekshana, Sri Lanka's World Cup schedule is heavily biased against them.

"We have canceled our practice session due to travel fatigue and the distance from our team hotel to the venue. I can't name names, but some teams are staying in the same area, and their hotel is just 14 minutes away from the ground. It takes us about an hour and 40 minutes."

"To get here for the match, we have to wake up at 5 am. Then we have to change locations after each match because we are playing at four different venues. It's unfair to us."

"We had to wait eight hours at the airport to get our flight to Miami from the flight we took from Florida. The flight was supposed to leave at 8 pm, but we didn't get our flight until 5 am the next morning. This is really unfair to us."
