After securing victory against Zimbabwe in the first T20, the Bangladesh team is currently resting at the hotel today. Although the traveling squad underwent training in the morning, there was no training session scheduled for the Bangladesh team. However, today saw the absence of Soumya Sarkar from the squad, who was seen busy outside the field. Starting from the head coach to the batting coach and fitness coaches, Soumya Sarkar spent a busy time on the field with them.
Due to injury, Soumya Sarkar is not part of the squad for the 3 matches of the Chattogram phase. However, he has joined the team in Chattogram. Despite the absence of any squad members on the field today, Soumya Sarkar was indeed present. He is preparing himself in various ways. Initially, he ran with fitness trainers for some time. Then he practiced batting with batting coach David Hemp in the nets.
Although the coaches returned to the dressing room after leaving the field, Soumya continued his practice. Standing beside the wicket, he kept throwing balls one after another outside the boundary. Spending a considerable amount of time, he seemed determined to do this task. Soumya arrived on the field at 12:40 PM today, and when he was returning with the bat to the pavilion, the time was 2:47 PM.
Soumya Sarkar has shown what he can do on his best day, as he demonstrated against New Zealand in Nelson last December. While others failed, he scored 169 off 151 balls playing alone. The problem is that such best days come less frequently. The consistent inconsistency has often challenged the capability of the talented batter.
Soumya Sarkar is returning for the Dhaka phase of the Zimbabwe series. It's almost certain that he will be in the World Cup squad as well. To find himself back, Soumya is making every effort. He may return in a formidable form, which he wants to take to Mirpur for the World Cup in America.
