Today, Bangladesh faces the Netherlands in a crucial T20 World Cup match. A victory will significantly bolster Najmul Hossain Shanto's team's chances of advancing to the Super Eight. The real Shakib Al Hasan has yet to shine in this tournament, as he failed to perform in the United States leg. Despite this, the team management is not worried about Shakib's current performance. The captain is hopeful that Shakib will soon return to his best form.
Bangladesh has concluded its United States leg of the World Cup and now heads to the West Indies. Victories against the Netherlands and Nepal in Saint Vincent will secure Bangladesh a spot in the Super Eight. Winning just one of these matches will leave Bangladesh dependent on the results of other group matches. However, Bangladesh's biggest star, Shakib Al Hasan, is not scoring runs with the bat or performing well with the ball. In two matches, he bowled 4 overs without taking any wickets and scored only 11 runs.
If Shakib returns to form, it will be highly beneficial for Bangladesh. On the eve of the Netherlands match, when asked about Shakib's current form, Bangladesh captain Shanto responded,
"No one in our team is worried about Shakib Bhai's performance. We don't even want to discuss it. We know how well he has performed over the years. What's important is his own expectations. He is working hard. I won't say he will make a comeback because he is already in a good place. I hope he will perform even better tomorrow."
"I don't think there is any issue with his eyesight. Everything seems fine. In practice, whether it’s batting or bowling, he is comfortable. In this format, one or two bad innings can happen. As a captain, I don't feel any extra pressure about this. He also doesn't feel that kind of pressure because he is very experienced and I believe he will make a strong comeback."
