Shubman Gill Expects 300 Runs in IPL Soon, Aims for Strong Comeback with Gujarat Titans

Indian cricketer and Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill, recently expressed his belief that scoring 300 runs in an IPL match is just a matter of time, and it could be achieved in the upcoming season. Last IPL season, several matches saw scores over 250 runs, with 9 matches surpassing the 250-run mark. Additionally, 3 other matches saw totals over 240 runs. Notably, in one game, Punjab Kings chased down a target of 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, winning with 8 balls to spare.

Gill shared his thoughts, stating, "The pace of the game has reached a point where it feels like we will see 300 runs in a match soon. Last year, we came very close in a few instances. The impact player rule adds excitement and makes IPL even more entertaining. One of the best aspects of IPL is how a new player emerges as a star every day."

Reflecting on his team’s previous season and outlining their plans for the future, Gill acknowledged their shortcomings, saying, "The plan is to score as many runs as possible and lose as few wickets as possible. Last season, we couldn't perform well in the powerplay or even after it. We weren't able to play the way we wanted in the powerplay and beyond, and that’s why we didn’t qualify."

Shubman Gill took over as the captain of Gujarat Titans last season when Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai Indians. In his first season as captain, Gill scored 426 runs, with a strike rate of 147. Despite his solid performances, Gujarat Titans couldn't make it to the playoffs, finishing 8th with 6 wins from 14 matches.
